My Digital Twin: The Secret Weapon Against Creator Burnout
I'm tired of fighting a losing battle against the algorithm. So I'm changing my approach.
What if we had our own internet? One focused on just us?
That's where I see the future heading. I've talked about it before; one of the ideas I has for a brand previously was Internet Factory, because I wanted to show creators how to build their own. Turns out that creators get a bit overwhelmed by that idea, though.
But now I'd like to revisit it, but in a simpler way: through the lens of a chatbot. A few days ago, I launched my own chatbot, my digital twin.
It's my bait and switch trap for creators. 🤫
On its exterior, a chatbot is a pretty simple concept. All you have to do is talk to it. But it can be so much more.
It can be my Google. When you talk to it, it will suggest the things I've already created. My own private search engine, allowing me to take visitors on tours of my corner of the internet.
With that model, it also opens up potential revenue streams. I've started exploring sponsorships from companies I already support. I'm writing about what I like about the companies I support, so there's going to potentially be search traffic + a testimonial. Then, if people on my chatbot ask about the products I use, I can surface that. But if they don't ask, I don't. To me, this is a much better process than a list of affiliate links shoved at the bottom of every email.
This is also an example of an abundant system. Sponsorships allow me to support more free users of the chatbot. More users result in more potential traffic for all sponsors. Therefore, the actions of any sponsor create a better ecosystem for all sponsors. And it reduces the cost of sponsorships for individual sponsors. Instead of having to pay for large numbers of views, they can pay less for fewer, but potentially much more targeted views. When you put things in front of people who are looking for those things, good things happen.
But it's not only a search engine, it's also a social media site. Except, it's a social media site that I don't have to interact on. And, if everyone on there is on there because they are interested in my content, I can guarantee a high quality network. My audience is only full of the best people. (That means you! 🥰)
So, down the line, I can actually start automatically making double opt-in introductions where it seems appropriate. And again, I can create these types of mechanisms so I'm able to do that at a much larger scale than I could if I had to use my attention to do so. That allows me to help more people than I could otherwise.
Job board? Yep, it could be that too! I can create posts about the people I'm looking to work with, and those interested can discover me. And not only that, I can share what I can help with, so people can also hire me! That's another use case covered!
That's the magic of a simple chatbot. It can act as my proxy in the digital world, raising people to my awareness when it makes sense to do so. And when it can help them without me needing to be involved? That's even better for them, because I can do so without worrying about my capacity to do so.
Eventually, my chatbot will be my filtering mechanism, my kingdom, my internet. The place I can optimize for myself. It can bring me the people I want to spend time with and block the people I don't.
It's the ultimate freedom, the ultimate responsibility, and therefore, the ultimate agency.
So I'm starting to sell creators chatbots. But I'm delivering their ultimate freedom.
It's a bait and switch I'm proud to perform.
